Photographing weddings at Fitler Club is fantastic! The venue has a feel unlike any other in Philadelphia. There are so many locations inside that are perfect for modern and stylish photography. On top of that if you need a space for the afterparty, there isn't another in the city that has your reception space, a bowling alley, and karaoke all in one spot.

I was invited to an Halloween event last night only ordered 2 drinks $16.90 each. The bartender then illegally charged my card an additional $88 for their tip.

How can you employ bartenders that are committing illegal actions. I know I was not the only one to get their card charged as well. Now I am getting a new debit card as a result.

Advise for management: train staff better…

I’m writing this review as a former member of the Fitler Club. While this is listed as a hotel for the purposes of Google (they have a number of rooms), it’s a members-only social club and gym with a co-working space and a dedicated corporate space— sounds pretty good, right? In theory, the Fitler Club should be an urban escape, positioned on the Schuylkill River in a sprawling facility attached to the Aramark building. However, it couldn’t be further from it— and the TLDR is if you’re considering joining, DON’T.

My husband and I joined the Fitler Club in Jan 2024 and were members for 10 months. Since we were a couple we paid the family rate (they have two membership options: single or family and the rate varies by your age, which is standard). There was a hefty initiation fee, the monthly rate, and a minimum food/ Bev spend of $75 which does not include tax or the auto gratuity of 20%.

The long and the short of it is the place is horrendously run.

GYM: The gym and locker rooms are filthy, to the point where we felt like we couldn’t shower there (showers are moldy, have smelled like urine, had flies). The steam room smelled so strongly of mold, that it was unusable. The gym space is nice, but the equipment is already seeing signs of hard use and aren’t well maintained. There’s an indoor pool, but it’s a biohazard. Limited fitness classes and it became difficult to sign up for them when they transitioned to their new app.

RESTAURANT: Food and drinks are decent, but the service is incredibly slow. We had issues with staff continuing to close out our bill before we were done to cash out on the auto gratuity, so misalignment on incentives vs member experience. The main bar, dining room, and back bar are also almost always empty, except for week day happy hour.

PROGRAMMING: The schedule of programming was infrequent and lackluster. Not much else to say about this.

BILLING: In June the Fitler Club started charging a credit card processing fee for membership and food/ bev, which is not standard, especially for dining. It took months for them to lock down a consistent billing frequency and there were months that we wouldn’t get charged until the end of the current month for the previous month, which becomes very annoying when you’re now paying via ACH.

Worse yet, essentially every other month we were mis-charged and had to contact billing to rectify. Icing on the cake, our final statement we were overcharged by nearly $300. Since we are no longer members, we can’t access the statement in the app to see where this could even be coming from. We’ve contacted billing, followed-up, and have still not heard back. It’s egregious and we couldn’t be more disappointed in our experience as members of the Fitler Club.

This hotel is truly a hidden gem. A little to hidden which is why I gave 4 stars for the location, but it's really not a deal breaker. The main entrance is a bit unassuming so you're likely to miss it. I actually walked in through the rear of the building where some of the workers were. Now that's out of the way, this "club" is absolutely amazing! Stayed here on May 18th. This place felt really upscale. Fitness rooms are incredible! I'll have to come back to try the additional amenities. They offer classes and have a movie theater and bowling alley. Unfortunately, the alley wasn't available due to a wedding but it just gives me a reason to come back. Staff was super kind and very accommodating. They actually escorted me to my room. Everyone was extremely kind.
There is also valet parking, a bit pricey ($60). Again not too much of a deal breaker for me. I'll definitely be back.

Still at the hotel and while it is definitely an experience, this falls short of what you’d expect for the price. The entrance, although discrete, is uninviting. There was only 1 elevator working which was slow. The decor is odd. While some aspects are amazing (like the work with rough textures, dark colors, and bright artwork), others leave a lot to be desired (like the odd pictures of young men smoking hanging in our room). There are absolutely NO views from your room. You are in a redecorated warehouse, so you get warehouse views. The water pressure was awful (even for the bathroom sink let alone the shower). The room’s visual fire alarm kept flashing every 10 seconds all night, impeding our sleep. Overall, not good value for money. Philly has much better options in this price range (and that’s what you’re up against). This is why it gets a solid 2 stars.

I photographed a recent wedding at The Filter Club for the first time. I was really impressed by this venue. It was a perfect downtown location for a micro wedding. They have two wedding spaces and I was working in the smaller space that opens up out to a deck. It was very private and the views and open air feeling of this spot was just perfect for an intimate event. I was impressed by the modern art work decorating the wall by local artist. There were many interesting spaces and natural light to photograph in and my artistic eye was on overload! There were outdoor spaces too around the club that I found photographed well all within a 1 block radius. The staff was super helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend for a small event or wedding. I am hoping to work there again soon!
